Abstract

Properdin factor B (Bf) is a polymorphic protein in the human plasma. Two common alleles, Bf S, Bf F, and two rare alleles, Bf F1, BfS1, have been demonstrated in Caucasians. We now report that Bf F can be subtyped into two alleles, Bf Fa and Bf Fb by isoelectrofocusing. Family studies indicate that they are inherited in a co-dominant pattern. Gene frequencies for Caucasians are: Bf S 0.808, Bf F1 0.019, Bf s 1 0.005, Bf s 1 0.038 and Bf Fa 0.128. © 1982, S. Karger AG, Basel.
