Abstract

Jean Frederic Joliot's first research topic concerned on the rate of deposition of radioactive elements on electrolysis of their aqueous solutions. After their marriage Jean Frederic and Irene Curie Joliot worked together as a team on the physical effects of α-radiation. In 1935, the Joliot-Curies received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for their work on the `synthesis of new radioactive elements'. The Joliot-Curies contribution to the `golden age of physics' are discussed.
