The National Institutes of Science and Technology (INCT) aim to streamline and figure up through joints, reference groups in strategic areas for the sustainable development of Brazil. Among the goals for the creation of INCT, we can highlight the need to mobilize and aggregate pivotally groups of excellence in frontier areas of science and strategic areas for sustainable development. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the behavior of network collaboration INCT Energy and Environment (INCT EA) from 2009 to 2014. Thus, were created standardized databases using the periodicals of the INCT EA researchers (indexed journals described in the annual activity reports of the INCT EA and lattes curriculum). After validation of the information were generated specific attributes for construction and evaluation of networks formed. The properties of the generated networks were calculated, analyzed and interpreted. It is observed the existence of the small world phenomenon in the INCT EA collaboration network, as well as the distribution of degrees of co-authorship networks before and after the creation of the institute suggests the existence of a power law. The results obtained in this study it were concluded that the INCT EA carry out its role as the joints created between the research team. Much of the principal researcher / articulators INCT EA are part of the committee of the Institute. This strengthens the collaboration network and promotes the dissemination of knowledge for the development of Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil.
