Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of parental communication patterns and the impact of parental communication patterns on the oral language development of children aged 4-5 years in Dampek Hamlet, Satar Padut Village, Lamba Leda District. Data was collected by means of open interviews, observation and documentation. The technique used in data analysis starts from the data collection stage, the data reduction stage, the data presentation stage, drawing conclusions and data verification. The results showed that parental communication patterns that were unidirectional or authoritarian had a negative impact on the oral language development of children aged 4-5 years in Dampek Hamlet. The two-way (democratic) communication pattern applied by parents has a positive impact and supports the development of children's spoken language. The impact is in the form of children being able to tell their experiences confidently without feeling afraid.
