This research paper develops a theoretical framework of reference associated with the notions of complexity and disciplinary organization in a context of understanding the creation, communication, organization and legitimi-zation of knowledge in Chilean universities. From this base, this paper presents and discusses the results of an investigation regarding the interpretation of the epistemological bases underlying politics and prospective developmental policies in Chilean universities within this context.
