Abstract
The unveiling of a health-care reform package has become the most anticipated event of the Clinton administration. Medical device and diagnostic companies must begin preparing now to compete on a new playing field. As presently envisioned, there are three key components of the managed competition system: health-care provider groups, health alliances, and technology review boards. The author discusses the basic dynamic of this new system which can have profound implications for device and diagnostic companies.
