Abstract

The work presents a brief review of the improvement of tribological properties by using powder metallurgy (P/M) tool electrode in electrical discharge machining (EDM) process. The work discusses various methods involved for the electrical discharge coating (EDC) process such as powder mixed in the dielectric, use of P/M tool, brush electrode, etc. The factors affecting the EDC process have been discussed and the research breakthrough gives a clear picture of the EDC process by using P/M electrodes with the details of tool electrode material, workpiece material, the coating on the substrate and the obtained result of research.
