Abstract

It is demonstrated that the measurement of the frequency distribution of the settling velocity of atmospheric aerosol particles by means of jet impactors is of much higher accuracy than the measurement of the frequency distribution of their equivalent radii. A set of equations is derived giving the relations between the operational parameters of the impactors and the physical properties of the air which must be satisfied if different sets of aerosol measurements are to be compatible. © 1970.
