Developing fruits of the lowbush blueberry showed a gradual decline in rate of respiration as the fruits matured. All six clones used reacted similarly. Since no climacteric was found, the lowbush blueberry can be considered a non-climacteric fruit. The major increase in volume of developing lowbush blueberry fruits occurred in the period 3 weeks prior to harvest while the major increase in weight slightly preceded this.
