Design of metamaterial loaded monopole antenna for multiband operation

Abstract

A compact rectangular monopole antenna loaded with ELC (Electric field Coupled resonator) and to obtain multiband resonance characteristics complementary split ring (CSRR) is used. The proposed antenna is 23 × 12.8 × 1.6 mm of dimensions and which is designed using FR-4 material which carries a dielectric value equal to 4.3. The metamaterial element CSRR offers negative permittivity characteristics and ELC offers negative permeability characteristics for achieving good impedance matching, multiband and antenna miniaturization.
