Abstract

Two members of the genus Niphargus Schiődte, 1849 (subgenus Orniphargus S. Karaman, 1950, fam. Niphargidae) are studied and figured. The species Niphargus polymorphus Fišer, Trontelj & Sket, 2006 is discovered at the first time in Montenegro (Zavrh, Nikšić) and partially described and figured. The new subspecies Niphargus poianoi salernianus, ssp. n. is described and figured from Campania in southern Italy (S. Angelo a Fasanella, Salerno). The taxonomic status and relation of these taxa regarding other members of the subgenus Orniphargus are discussed.
