Abstract

The article examines the key aspects of urban and regional planning in the development of a post-industrial regional and urban environment. In particular, the role of creative industries and creative clusters in the formation of urban spaces is considered. New challenges facing countries give rise to new vectors of development of creative industries. The aim of the article is to analyze the key trends in creative industries and creative clusters development, and to identify their contribution in the context of sustainable development concept. Based on the analytical research methods there is given a formulation of trends in the development of modern creative clusters and innovative factors for the development of creativity in the post-industrial economy at the level of cities and regions as drivers of sustainable ecosystem development (creative collaborations as a factor in stimulating production development; creative intensity in industries and the formation of a creative class, ecological formats of capitalization of industrial heritage, cross-sectorial interaction in creative laboratories). These aspects could be components of strategies for sustainable development of territories used by regional and municipal authorities. Creative clusters form a balanced socio-cultural space based on the “principle of the right to development”, which determines not only the reduction of poverty by stimulating economic development, thereby reducing unemployment, but also by creating a favorable socio-cultural environment for progressive economic, social, political, cultural and environmentally sustainable human development. The problem areas that impede the urban spaces and ecosystems sustainable development are formulated as well (the complexity of creative industries development level and their innovative component in the regions evaluation, insufficient legislative support for this type of activity, the lack of adaptation of this sphere to digital transformation, problems of compliance with environmentally friendly technologies in the field of creative industries).
