Abstract

Inflammation of the hoof blades is the main and most serious pathology that affects horses, and can be caused by bacterial sepsis, metabolic or endocrine disorders, and excessive weight. The objective was to approach a case report of a six-year-old horse, a six-year-old horse, with a vaquejada animal, with congested mucous membranes and suspected laminitis. In the owner's report the animal had accidentally eaten chicken litter. During the specific examination performed in the gastrointestinal tract, there was reflux and bulging in the flanks and in the examination of the locomotor system, pain on palpation may be noted in the region above the crown of the hoof.
