Abstract
A series of retrospective analyses examining the development of national scientific studies have not only addressed the quantity, but also notably attracted attention of scholars in relation to the quality of material published. Although the study of entrepreneurship in Brazil is a recent development, it has reached a significant level of publications. This emphasizes its importance academically, scientifically, and for business. This article examines the material produced concerning entrepreneurship for two major scientific events, EGEPE 2000 to 2008, with 163 articles, and ENANPAD 2003 to 2008, with 127 publications, totaling 290 articles. The results show a strong predominance of articles with functionalist bases and theoretical/empirical methodologies. The most recurrent themes are related to the behaviors, attitudes, profiles and competencies of entrepreneurs. The main contributions show that there is much to be built in order to consolidate the area.
