QISWAKH STRATEGY AND ISLAMIC LEGAL SOURCES: A NEW METHOD READING SKILL

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Qiṣwakh strategy in improving the reading skills (mahārah al-qirāʾah) of students in the Islamic Economic Law (HES) program, particularly in understanding Arabic texts related to Islamic law. This quantitative research employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 38 first-semester HES students as research subjects. Pretests and posttests were conducted to measure students' reading skills before and after the application of the Qiṣwakh strategy. The findings reveal that prior to the application of the Qiṣwakh strategy, 97.4% of the students were categorized as having moderate reading skills, with only 2.6% falling into the low category. Following the implementation of the Qiṣwakh strategy, a significant improvement was observed, with 92.1% of the students achieving a high category of reading skills and 7.9% remaining in the moderate category.
