Abstract
Languedoc-Roussillon is the second most disadvantaged French region in terms of social criteria. It presents an economically fragile population by DREES with a high rate of CMU beneficiaries and without mutual health patients. The objective of this study was to understand how the general physicians [GP] are aware of socioeconomic determinants of their patients and how this can influence their attitudes and practices. A qualitative study was conducted by semi-structured interviews with GP and phenomenological semio-pragmatic analysis of verbatim. Analysis and results According to GPs, everyone is potentially vulnerable; social cues data were to be found in the speech of patients; exploring the vulnerability puts the doctor faces a difficult balancing sense of intrusion and medical approach, generating a sense of helplessness. Define social vulnerability by GP has proved complex, a result consistent with literature review. They see it as a clinical observational data or explore in the interview; it must be integrated into the medical folder. GP have an approach consistent with the ethics of care and adapt their care.
