Abstract

Steady-state firing-angle control errors and ac voltage distortion lead to the production of abnormal voltage harmonics at the dc terminals of HVDC converters; these are in addition to the usually considered “normal” harmonics. This paper describes the analysis and a digital computer program by which the normal and abnormal harmonics can be calculated for both 6- and 12-pulse converter operation. Examples of computed values are presented. Copyright © 1970 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
