Abstract

Prophetic interest in Jerusalem, her impending fate and her eschatological significance provides the key to the understanding of the book of Isaiah. The movement in the book is from Jerusalem under judgement to the New Jerusalem. This thematic interest not only binds the two halves (1-39, 40-66) of the book together but also the individual sections (1-12, 13-23, 24-27, 28-33, 34-35, 36-39, 40-55, 56-66).
