Abstract

This study aims to analyze productive zakat as an instrument of income distribution in Indonesia from an Islamic economics perspective. The research employs A mixed methods approach that combines descriptive-analytical qualitative methods with descriptive statistical analysis. Data were collected through library research (studi kepustakaan), comprising primary and secondary sources including relevant books, scientific journals, Al-Qur'an, hadith, and government reports from BPS and BAZNAS. The findings reveal that productive zakat, when managed professionally and distributed in the form of business capital, productive equipment, and skills training, plays a significant role in improving the economic welfare of mustahiq and reducing income inequality. Zakat functions as a social and economic instrument that facilitates the redistribution of wealth from muzakki to mustahiq, in line with Islamic principles of justice ('adl) and balance (tawazun). Gini ratio data indicates a gradual decline in income inequality, while conceptually, productive zakat has the potential to serve as a supporting instrument for economic redistribution from an Islamic perspective.
