Abstract

Due to globalization and the rapid changes occurring in higher education, the concept of the internationalization of higher education has been widely discussed and well documented, particularly in North America and Europe. However, the literature on the subject of internationalization in relation to Asian context is still limited. The purpose of this article is to review various aspects of internationalization from Western perspectives and apply these to Thai higher education, focusing particularly on hospitality and tourism. Various aspects of these elements are examined and discussed in relation to hospitality and tourism higher education in Thailand. © 2009 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
