Abstract

The failure of an increasing number of countries to comply with the rules of the Stabilityand Growth Pact has given fresh impetus to the debate on the appropriateness of the Pact in its present form. This Forum deals with the deficiencies of the present design of the Pact and with possible ways of improving it, including the pertinent proposals by the European Commission. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
