Abstract
- numerical simulation of uniformily stratified, inviscid flow - for Fr=U/(N h) < 0.5 stagnation occurs upstream and a pair of lee vortices develops downstream - argued that deformation of isentropes through the obstacle baroclinically produces horizontally oriented vorticity , which is tilted vertically in the lee to form the vorticity pairs - linear theory (altough not valid) describes onset of stagnation qualitively well; but not lee and not quantitatively - description of model setup used (Terry Clark model)
