Deliberating on cyberbullying

Abstract

Cyberbullying is an aggressive and intentional act in anonymity, between minors, repetitive and constant over time, with the use of communication and information technologies. Following the methodology for the deliberation of the bioethical model, the problem was assessed. It is concluded that cyberbullying shows us a maleficent relationship between minors, which disrespects the autonomy of the child or adolescent, with the bad practices of digital technologies that affect their dignity, well-being, and human rights. Prevention is the optimal way out, but it requires the participation and training of all actors in the educational community; as well as consensual rules of coexistence that are the foundation of the internal morality of the school, with a transparent, neutral, and interdisciplinary protocol that respects the rights of the actors involved, that is capable of monitoring and evaluating the results of the case.
