Abstract

The main aim was to implement and evaluate an emotional intelligence intervention in an educational setting. An experimental group (n=60) and a control group (n=44) were evaluated in two different moments with the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and the Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. The results showed that, after three months of intervention, no statistically significant differences were found between pre-test and post-test in the median scoring of emotional intelligence, empathy, mental health, and self-esteem. The satisfaction of the program reported by the students was excellent. Despite the results obtained, it is necessary to continue strengthening the social-emotional skills in this stage of development to improve the personal adjustment and quality of life, as well as the comprehensive development of the adolescents.
