A solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura: a case report

Abstract

Fibrous tumors of the pleura are rare and are not associated with asbestos exposure. They arises from the submesothelial layer of the mesothelium. Fibrous tumours could be benign or malignant. Most patients with fibrous tumors present with an asymptomatic mass incidentally diagnosed on radiography. Completely resection is paramount important in patient's management. We present a case of a 67-year-old woman diagnosed by radiography and subsequent computed tomography with a tumor mass in the right hemithorax. We performed a lateral thoracotomy with atypical resection.
