La dimension territoriale de l’immigration internationale au Québec

Abstract

Cet article est consacré à la répartition spatiale des immigrants internationaux au Québec et aux principaux enjeux territoriaux reliés à l'immigration internationale. Après avoir analysé celle-ci en termes de flux (répartition des cohortes d'immigrants arrivés au cours d'une période donnée) aussi bien qu'en termes de stock (distribution spatiale de la population immigrée et redistribution par migration interne), un examen critique des enjeux territoriaux tels que définis par différents acteurs (oeuvrant à des échelles différentes) est proposé.This paper is devoted to the spatial distribution of Quebec's international immigrants, and to the main territorial stakes related to this type of migration. After analysing international immigration as a flow (distribution of the cohorts of immigrants who entered Québec during a given period) as well as a stock (distribution of all immigrants surviving in Québec and their redistribution through internal migration), a critical analysis of the territorial stakes as defined by various agents (active at different levels) is proposed.
