Abstract
The future of forest certification in China is a tenuous one. With the country embarking on a historic program of afforestation and reforestation, the progress of sustainable forestry is of a critical turning point. This article investigates the challenges and assesses the likelihood of forestry cerfification in China. Using Russia and Indonesia as case studies, it also looks at the possibilities of creating an international Chain of Custody in China. Finally, the skepticism of the Chinese business community is discussed.
