Abstract

Spiking oil prices over the last five years and a heightened awareness of the global warming phenomenon have placed environmentalism and sustainability into the mainstream. Consumers have these concerns in mind when making more of their purchase decisions from what they buy at the grocery store to the kind of car they drive. It only makes sense that these concerns would also factor into the home buying process. This study begins to fill the research void on this topic by examining how important green amenities are in the search for a home to purchase.
