Abstract

In the course of a study of the system CdO-SnO~ two compounds were formed by solid-state reactions. CdSnO 3 is orthorhombic with a distorted perovskite structure, having a-5-547, b-7-867, c-5-577 _~. Cd2SnO 4, not previously reported, is orthorhombic with a= 10.01, b =5"55, c-3"07/~. The X-ray powder diffraction patterns of these compounds are given. Other phases of undetermined structure were obtained by heating cadmium a-stannate precipitates, but not by dry reaction.
