Abstract
The aim of this paper is investigate the environmental behavior in children (8 to12 years old) of the south of Brazil. In a quantitative stage (n = 1719) the Children's Environmental Behavior Scale was applied and the environmental behavior was compared considering age, place of residence, sex and school (public or private). In qualitative stage, focus groups were conducted to investigate the children's comprehension about the topic. The resuls showed that girls tend to exhibit more environmental behavior, as well as the youngest, those who live in small cities and those from public schools. The results showed that the environmental concern leads to activism environmental behavior.
