Abstract
Directional solidification of the nickel-base superalloy was investigated from the viewpoint of possible engineering applications. Actual size turbine blades were experimentally produced. Excellent directional solidification castability was confirmed by easy mold production and high speed processing rates. The tensile strength increased approximately 10 to 15% and creep rupture life 2 to 4 times, compared with conventionally cast material. Data are tabulated.
