Abstract

An essay is presented which examines the usefulness of intent and expression as an alternative to the construct of "validity" for qualitative researchers. The author explains that qualitative methodologists have conflicting views on the concept of validity. He points out that the concept is understood as the ability to accurately measure what one sets out to measure.
