Octavio Paz: as trilhas do Labirinto

Abstract

O texto analisa aspectos de algumas obras de Octavio Paz diretamente relacionados com a discussão sobre história e modernidade. O ponto central da análise é o livro O Labirinto da Solidão , ensaio sobre a identidade do povo mexicano. Destacam-se também as reflexões de Paz sobre a construção da história, de grande atualidade, inclusive, na perspectiva de suas dimensões simbólicas e míticas, presentes e importantes para compreender os contrapontos dos tempos modernos.The text anlyses aspects of some Octavio Paz’ work directly related with the discussion on History and modernity. The analysis’ main point is the book The labyrinth of Solitude, an essay about the mexican people’s identity. The text also shows Paz reflections about the construction of History, socurrent nowadays, inclusively, fro m the perspective of its symbolic and mythical dimension, present and importante to understand the counterpoints of modern times.
