Abstract

The article discusses the role played by college faculty and academic libraries in providing students alternatives to high priced textbooks. Topics discussed include the Affordable Learning Solutions (ALS) initiative started by the California State University (CSU) system to lower college costs, the implementation of this initiative at San Jose State University (SJSU), and the Textbooks Available as eBooks in the Library (TABL) list provided by the SJSU library.
