Abstract

The analysis of characters in the external and internal anatomy, specifically in the phallic complex, reveals three new species of the genus Paramastax. The species present characters in the external anatomy similar to the species previously described for the genus, however the sclerites that constitute the phallic complex are extremely different from those recognized. Currently, ten of the 16 species of the genus are reported from Colombia. Based on individuals studied, the altitudinal range of distribution has been extended from 77 to 2600 m.
