Educação, escola e formação de professores: políticas e impasses

Abstract

Este artigo trata da questão das finalidades da educação e da escola básica na sociedade contemporânea apontando seu grande desafio diante das mudanças sociais em andamento. Em decorrência, assinalam-se questões sobre o papel dos professores face às demandas socioculturais que lhes são postas, o que leva a uma discussão sobre sua formação inicial oferecida nas licenciaturas. A partir de pesquisas evidencia-se a condição de precariedade dessa formação e seu descompasso em relação aos movimentos emergentes no mundo societário. Sinaliza-se a necessidade de uma verdadeira revolução no que diz respeito à estrutura e às dinâmicas curriculares relativas à formação de professores para a educação básica em nível superior. Levanta-se a questão: por que mudanças profundas não ocorrem nesses cursos uma vez que, há muito tempo e por muitos estudos, tem-se falado em crise das licenciaturas pelas suas fragilidades formativas?This article discusses the purposes of basic education and schools in contemporary society, pointing their great challenges due to the social changes that are underway. Therefore, some questions about the teachers' role facing sociocultural demands are highlighted, which leads to a discussion about the education offered in initial teacher education programs. Research evinces the precariousness of this initial education and its deviation from the movements emerging in society. The article indicates the need for a real revolution on structure and curriculum of basic teachers' initial education in graduate level. A question is raised: why deep changes do not occur, even though it has been a long time since many studies have pointed out the crisis in initial teacher education due to its formative weaknesses?
