Abstract
A 67-year-old male visited our hospital complaining of rectal prolapse and anal prolapse. The patient had anorectal adenocarcinoma and underwent transanal tumorectomy on Sept. 11, 1995. A white, thick lesion was incidentally found in the anal canal during the operation and was partially excised. The histological findings revealed that the tumor was well- differentiated adenocarcinoma, mp, ly0, v0, ew () and Paget cells were found in the anal epidermis adjacent to the tumor. Anorectal cancer with pagetoid nelanoma was diagnosed, and sacro-abdominal resection of the rectum was performed on Sept. 25, 1995. Microscopic findings revealed that Paget cells extended from the anal canal to the perianal skin beyond the anal verge. Paget cells stained positive for PAS with alcian blue. This case was suspected of the intraepidermal invasion, so-called pagetoid spread, followed by anorectal carcinoma.
