Abstract

Culturemes can be described as extra-linguistic cultural symbols, which behave like metaphorical models, motivating figurative expressions in language (lexical or phraseological). The development of this conceptintheoreticalresearchonpolysemyandphraseologyshowsthatitcanbeaneffectivetoolfororganizing therepresentationofsemanticnetworksoffigurativemeanings,accordingtoculture-basedassociationsofideas.
