Impact of job assignment rules for straddle carriers on the throughput of container terminals

Abstract

The efficient deployment of straddle carriers in good handling of containers in the container terminals was presented. Use of industrial simulation software models accounted for the number of straddle carriers needed. The management proposed a heuristic job assignment rule for loading and unloading of containers.
