Abstract

In this paper the situations are delineated in which micromodeling of material handling equipment is appropriate. An over review of conveyor types is presented. The challenges of modeling chain-conveyors and recommendations of meeting these challenges within the framework of typical modeling tools and simulation-study contexts are described. In conclusion, these recommendations are summarized and promising directions for further development of modeling techniques and enhancement of model building tool are made.
