Abstract

This text features a philological study of editions of the novel Tarde de verano (1980) by the Colombian writer Manuel Mejía Vallejo. The analysis conducted enabled the development of a critical edition of the novel. The conceptual bases of this study are found in the theoretical-methodological approach of textual criticism, an approach that guides the process of developing critical editions of literary texts. The emphasis of the analysis will be made on the initial stage of textual criticism: the recensio. From this perspective, an evaluative description of the manuscripts and editions used in the collatio will be presented, as will an analysis of the variants found in this philological process, and its impact on the process of establishing the text in the critical edition of this important Colombian writer's novel.
