Abstract

Biodegradable ionic liquid (IL) choline acetate shows highly efficient delignification ability in cornstalk pretreatment process. Cellulose-rich products with 98% holocellulose and 2% lignin decreased from original 13% could be directly obtained from the IL-cornstalk solution by the simple, non-toxic, and green process.
