Abstract

A secoiridoid glucoside, insularoside-6’”-O-B-D-glucoside, was isolated along with 9 known compounds from the leaves of Fraxinus insularis and its structure was determined to be 2 on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical studies. Direct comparison of this glucoside with a known secoiridoid glucoside, oleayunnanoside, led to the conclusion that the two were identical, and that the proposed structure 2a for oleayunnanoside should be revised to 2. © 1993, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
