Abstract

Abstact After the tragedy that emerged from the stronghold of the Islamic Da'wah Council in 2008, a new phenomenon emerged in the history of religion in the village of Klepu, namely the formation of a mosque forum. This forum marked a new round of the emergence of public religion in Muslims. But precisely here lies the problem-religionwhich is initially private has changed to become public. The focus to be analyzed in this paper is the problem of Muslim contestation. There are two issues to be discussed.First, how the mosque forum transforms religion from private to public. Second, how the mosque forum plays its capital so that it can play its contestation. This paper uses sociological approach and qualitative research. The choosen sociology theory is Pierre Bourdieu's contestation theory. From this paper we can see that the change in private religion to public coincided with the desire of the Muslim community to maintain the number of communities. Furthermore, by utilizing their economic capital, they can reduce sectarianism in the Muslim body.
