In the context of change, and facing the challenge of staying firm in a demanding and unpredictable market, with frequent technological changes that impact on productivity, management-level professionals are part of a corporate culture in which where people are working harder, and longer hours, to achieve personal success and material rewards. The theme of "occupational stress and the tensions arising from the workplace" gain even greater importance than in previous decades, because new important variables have appeared and the relationships between them have intensified. In order to identify the main factors of stress at work, and to diagnose the level of occupational stress in managers at an electricity company, this descriptive, explanatory study, using the Theoretical Model for Explanation of Stress in Managers - MTEG, developed by Zille (2005), points out the work overload caused by the intensive use of organizational technologies, including having to do several activities at the same time, coupled with the high demands, as some of the causes of excessive tension in the workplace. This study also noted that 62.9% of the managers surveyed had some level of stress, ranging from mild to severe. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
