Some problems in the titration of streptomycin

Abstract

In the titration of streptomycin the end-point depends on (1) culture medium, (2) atmospheric conditions, (3) nature of the test organism, and (4) size of inoculum of the test organism. Results are given for many organisms in broth and serum water. A method of titration of streptomycin in patients' serum is described. Attention is drawn to an error inherent in the method of serial dilutions by capillary tubes. © 1947, British Medical Journal Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
