Abstract
Developments in Human Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology have had and continue to have a strong impact on society. This is due to the fact that their working tools include gametes, embryos, germ cells and genes, which may have both beneficial and inappropriate uses. These uses have significant consequences for the human species, for social organisation and for the very model of society. This text presents the main results of research undertaken by the Centre for Sociological Research (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas) in 2021 whereby a Delphi survey was administered to 25 experts in the field who identified the main areas of development, which have notable social repercussions.
