Abstract

An important element to restore the historical and political context of Mundo Caduco is the relation that this text keeps with the production of propaganda on the so called war of the Uskoks. Until recendy, the critics have studied some manuscripts, but in this article, the author analyses some aspects of the Relación verdadera sobre el hecho de los us-coques, published in Madrid (1616) under the attribution of Emanuel de Tordesillas. This text is seen as the official position of the Spanish Government towards this conflict. Its success produced a significant number of replies by historians and pamphleteers from Venice.
