Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of correlation between meteorological conditions and protection trips of a 230 kV transmission line in southern Brazil. This transmission line has a history of outages during the winter, which has occurred since the initial operation of the transmission line in 1974. Many studies have been done to identify the main reason for these events, including now the investigation of the influence of rainfall and humidity in this region to justify these problems that affect the reliability of protection systems associated with transmission line. This work shows the preliminary results that can justify the faults that occur in transmission line. © 2012 IEEE.
