IoT based manhole detection and monitoring system

Abstract

A smart city depends on a good manhole monitoring system. Water plays a vital role in our day today life. As most of the cities in India have adopted underground drainage system, it is very important that this system should work in a proper manner to keep the city clean, safe and healthy. If they fail to maintain the drainage system the pure water may get contaminated with drainage water and can result in spread of many infectious diseases. This paper exemplifies the design and implementation of a manhole monitoring system for IOT applications. The proposed model benefits the public to monitor the water level, blockage in the manhole and in addition to determine the level of harmful gases.
